Do you accept health insurance?

Rachel Ann Dine, LPC, LPCC is an out of network provider (see below for a step by step guide on how to use your Out of Network benefits!). This means she does not bill health insurance directly (outside of Optima Health Commercial Plans for Virginia clients), but provides you a one page document after each appointment to submit to your insurance carrier which allows you to use your Out of Network benefits.

Do I have to use my out of network benefits?

No. Using Out of Network benefits is an option you can take advantage of, but there is no requirement for you to submit anything to your health insurance, especially if you are concerned about confidentiality or potential auditing of your records by a health insurance plan.

Using Out of Network Benefits

If you have health insurance, most plans offer the option to use Out of Network benefits.

How do I use my out of network benefits?

1. Contact your insurance plan by calling the number on the back of your insurance card and inquire about whether or not your plan includes out of network benefits, or log into your plan’s dashboard and usually, there will be a section that says “out of network benefits.”

2. Typically if your plan lists out of network benefits, there will be a section that says “deductible.” This is the number that must be met prior to your plan reimbursing you for out of network costs. This number ranges per plan but for example, if your deductible for out of network benefits is $300, this would mean that after approximately 2 appointments with Rachel Ann, your health insurance plan will reimburse you a percentage of OR full amount you pay a provider.

3. Identify what the percentage is. Typically, this number also ranges but should be listed in your health insurance online portal or by calling the number on the back of your card and asking the representative what percentage is covered after the deductible is met.

4. When you attend each appointment with Rachel Ann, the cost of service is paid at time of appointment. After each appointment, she will provide you a one page document that you can submit to your plan to apply towards your deductible and so that you begin receiving reimbursement for out of network costs! Often times this document (called a Superbill) can be submitted online through your health insurance portal or via mail.

Encouraging freedom and autonomy in your therapy experience

FAQ on Mental Health Therapy with Rachel Ann Dine, LPC, LPCC

Is therapy worth it?

Attending therapy is an excellent way to develop higher levels of self-awareness in your life, learn to better cope with stress and anxiety, and feel more confident in who you are and how you interact with the world. Our mental health (i.e. health of the mind) affects every facet of life and investing in your mental health is a powerful way to develop skills that strengthen the health of your mind. If you have attended therapy before without much success, struggle with vulnerability, or feel like you “should” be able to manage life on your own but are still having anxiety or relationships struggles, then these can all be barriers or reasons why you may feel hesitant in reaching out. Mental health is health. When you feel more confident, centered in who you are, and have a deeper level of self-trust, life can start to feel more manageable and the feeling empowered on a core level can occur.

How often do I need to go to therapy?

Therapy is not designed to be a forever process where once you start, you have to come for years and years (although sometimes, you may find that you enjoy the process, are reaping the benefits, and long term therapy where we meet once per month to check in suits you!). Rachel Ann’s style lends it’s hand to helping you increase proficiency in anxiety management, developing healthy relationships, and feeling equipped to face life’s challenges on your own! The amount of time this takes differs from person to person. Client autonomy is at the forefront and Rachel Ann will work with you to determine and assess how often you’d like to attend therapy, what the current presenting problems are, and establish what you want to achieve out of of therapy.

How long does it take for therapy to be effective?

Therapy is not an overnight process and it is not a “magic cure.” However, in all her years of practicing, Rachel Ann has witnessed many clients feel better (in some capacity) after several sessions and describing feeling emotionally “lighter” or having a sense of direction in what they would like to work on (as well as receiving tools on how to get there!). Rachel Ann offers a solution focused therapy style which seeks to help you identify an overarching goal you would like to work towards which then allows for us to set achievable, realistic micro-goals to help get you there! Creating healthy changes does take time, effort, and work but when you are invested in the process of healing and making changes, and have a clinician invested in your mental health, this can aid in the efficacy of therapy. Typically, therapy with Rachel Ann can last anywhere from several months to a year + depending on what your goals are and what specifically you are wanting to target in the therapeutic relationship.

I’ve always wanted to try therapy, but I’m not quite sure what to talk about.

It can feel overwhelming to think about meeting with a stranger (aka a therapist!) and discussing intimate details of your life. Maybe you feel like you’re “overreacting” and aren’t truly a candidate for therapy. Maybe you feel like you generally handle life well or “should” be able to face life on your own.  These are all reasons that Rachel Ann has heard her lovely clients say to themselves prior to starting therapy and these are natural objections that can arise. In other areas of life, you may have to always “be on point” or “perform” but therapy with Rachel Ann is designed to let you fully be yourself, take the pressure off of yourself, and Rachel Ann is adept at helping you understand where you want to take the direction of your therapy experience. With a welcoming style and easygoing manner, Rachel Ann has helped many women feel comfortable opening up, meeting you where you are (she is a therapist who is adept at going at your pace when it comes to sharing personal and or difficult details of life), and finding topics to discuss when you aren’t sure of where to start! Attending therapy with a skilled clinician allows for you to take the pressure off of yourself and the therapist can act as a guide of sorts to help you increase self-awareness, feel more confident, and discover areas of yourself you may have lost sight of over the years.

Anxiety and Relationship Counseling

How often do I need to attend therapy and for how long?

In short, it depends. Rachel Ann’s goal for every client is to empower you to utilize the skills discussed in therapy and increase your sense of self-confidence to feel capable facing challenges. For some, this can look like coming to therapy weekly to target a very specific issue and for others, it looks like a longer term therapy relationship to achieve a variety of goals or receive support surrounding several different issues that may be or have occurred.

Every person Rachel Ann meets with receives a therapeutic experience that is tailored to their specific goals and current needs.
